Water Quality Measurement (iWater)
Challenge: Identify various chemical substances and pathogens in the entire life cycle of the city’s water supply system.
Water monitoring today is basically depending on manual field sampling and analysis in laboratories, which is a costly activity with an elevated environmental burden due to transports to and from sampling sites.
The proposal consists of three sub-projects:
- Water monitoring into and in lake Mälaren to identify chemical substances of concern
- Water monitoring in the pressurized water pipes to identify pathogens
- Water monitoring in the sewage system to identify discharges from industries
